Breeding Outside the Wild
Ivoloina participates in global breeding plans for several species and is the site of a transition program for rescued lemurs who are to become part of this global population outside the wild. The addition of the rescued lemurs provides genetic diversity to the existing populations to promote a healthy sustainable population. The need for long-term sustainable lemur populations increases as habitat in Madagascar decreases making this part of Ivoloina's mission of worldwide significance.

The current animal collection includes 115 lemurs of 13 species and subspecies, more than 400 tortoises of two endemic species, and five individuals of the two Malagasy boa species.
